<!-- Related content rail -->Matthew Perry has checked into a rehabilitation clinic to undergo an intensive detox program.
The Friends actor, who played Chandler Bing in the hit sitcom series, has been placed on a 48-hour detox regime in the Peninsular Recovery Center, California, after spending three hours with doctors at a remote hospital.
Perry has a history of prescription drug addiction and has been in-and-out of rehabilitation centers since 1997.
"Matthew expressly chose to get help here because it's very low-key and away from everything," a source said.
If it is true all I can say is my prays are with Matthew and I hope he makes a full recovery.

Yeah in an english newspaper on sunday there was an article saying that he had checked in looking unshaven and pale and heard asking for the drug addiction unit and it also had pictures and he didnt look to good but it may just be rubbish and the pictures could have been taken anywhere. If it is true i wish matthew the best off luck and health.:(

Detox is short for detoxification. Basically it means getting rid of toxins from your body. Patients who abuse alcohol and drugs regularly go into a 'Detox' program to get rid of the toxins cause by alcohol and drugs from the body.
FYI - Difference between Detox and Rehab.
Detoxification: This stage involves stopping alcohol consumption. This is very difficult for an alcoholic and requires extreme discipline. It is often performed in an inpatient setting. Alcohol is not available in this setting. The person is treated with the same medications discussed in the treatment of alcohol withdrawal, namely, benzodiazepines. During detoxification the medication is measured carefully to prevent withdrawal and is then gradually tapered off until no withdrawal symptoms are evident. This usually requires a few days to a week. Recently, physician-assisted, outpatient detoxification has become popular.
Rehabilitation: Short- and long-term residential programs aim to help people who are more severely dependent on alcohol develop skills not to drink, to build a recovery support system, and to work on ways to keep them from drinking again (relapsing).
Short-term programs last less than 4 weeks. Longer programs last for a month to a year or more. These are structured programs that provide therapy, education, skills training, and help develop a long-term plan to prevent relapsing.
