I was on this other friends forum - which is really lousy - and found this thread that had a really heated discussion. 'do you think Monica and Chandler's realtionship went downhill?' It got into a huge fight, about how r&r had way more passion and were more interesting, and mondler just didn't have that, and their relationship got boring.:o

I don't want to start a fight - lol - but i was just wondering what you all thought.

I definately disagree. Monica/Chander is my favorite couple on "Friends". It seems to me that they were way more loyal to each other than Ross and Rachel were. For example, Ross slept with another woman when she came on to him. Chandler had this opportunity in "TOW Christmas in Tulsa" but refused. This shows that he was way more commited.

Yeah but when Chandler had that "opportunity" Monica hadnt just said they should take a break... so it's obviously not the same.
Anyway, i don't agree either, i luv Monica and Chandler (still RnR are my fav couple, of course :P  ) but they are very cute, sweet and funny ^_^ :D

No Monica and Chandler were just more of a stable couple...after all they both had traumatic childhoods...both never expected to fall in love with each other...R and R were more centered on career and then they were afraid that after they had fallen in love again....then someone would be hurt again...

I agree. I love Monica and Chandler and they were my favorite on the show. Of course in the beginning I was for R&R, but after the London episode and Chandler and Monica hooking up, it was the best. I love how they play off each other. They have the best relationship, IMO. They were very dedicated to each other and I'm grateful to the writers for never tearing them apart like they did w/ Ross and Rachel all the time. I loved that M&C stayed together for the last 5 years of the show. They are just a wonderful couple!

I loved Mondler and it wasn't going "downhill" by any means. And for one strong reason that I like them better than RnR was that they were SO funny and RnR was mainly just about romance. I mean i've seen plenty of "just romance" couples but the thing in Mondler was that it was cute and funny. Something fresh, something new.

Okay, I am a HUGE RnR fan, so I will try and be as fair as possible. I think Mondler were very exciting and very funny with Joey when they were sneaking around. Then were a bit "safe" from 6 onwards. To tell u the truth I can't watch TOW The Proposal Pt. 2. I actually do agree with people, RnR have more passion, they can be too boring. Chandelr got less funny and all grown up from season 7 onwards. Although, I do admit he was quite funny in season 8.

I'm a huge ross and rachel fan. They are very special for me. But I do love Mondler. I think the show needed more stable couple after ross and rachel's complicated and possionate relationship. What Mondler have was sweet, funny, safe. I love them together.
I find R&R story is more interesting and passionate though.

yes, but do you need passion to make a relationship good? What about trust, support, and happiness. I can easily watch the proposal part 2. it defines Mon and Chan's relationship. And as Courtney once pointed out: "For all the laughs, there's something very romantic about Monica and Chandler's relationship.":)

I love Monica & Chandler. I know so many people love Ross and Rachel, but I don't really like them together. They're sucha mismatched couple it seems like. But many many many (hahh) people disagree with me :) I know that R&R sortof turned out to be the couple Friends revolved around in some way... you could always tell they were going to end up together... but i would have much rather had it been someone else.

I liked Monica and Chandler, their relationship seemed...more believable. Ross and Rachel had this meant to be type of thing, like they were "soulmates". I think more people can relate to the Monica and Chandler relationship...best friends, accidentally falling in love with eachother. To me, it's a more likeable storyline. I like Ross and Rachel too, but ya always knew they were going to end up together. Monica and Chandler were less predictable. I don't think it went downhill though, they just mellowed out. Chandler finally grew up some and Monica finally found the love of her life. I don't think Chandler got less funny, he just matured and joked about different things. ...I felt the need to use a smiley, lol.

uh i think they were a good couple and perhaps more believable then RnR because ross was more clever then rachel wheras chan and mon were about the same but i think Ross and rachel was more interesting to watch because they had more passion

i love mondler as much as rnr and i think they did give us some of the best episodes and they did give probably one of the biggest shocks of the show!

i think the only reason why someone would think they were going down hill is because they were the opposite type of couple of RnR. RnRs relationship was full of surprises and Mon and Chandlers was kinda straight forward after it all came out, it was simpler and stabler than RnR's which at times may have seemed like it was going down hill but i reall dont think it was

I wouldn't say it went downhill - id say the relationship moved into a more comfortable deeper love which is better in some ways. They were also getting older, so id say thats another reason why. I think R+R had a little more passion but when couples get together again, it happens ;) If they stayed together like C+ M, then im sure theres would have died down a little aswell.
