Condo has the whole 10 yards

Actor Matthew Perry has purchased a Sunset Strip-area condominium for more than $2.5 million, fully furnished.

The condo has two bedrooms and 2 1/2 bathrooms in nearly 1,700 square feet. It also has views from downtown L.A. to Catalina Island.

The unit, which was not on the market, was totally refurbished just before Perry purchased it.

The renovation was the work of designer and actress Sarah Buxton, who has appeared in a couple of "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" episodes and plays Morgan De Witt on "The Bold and the Beautiful."

The general contractor was Jim Sorkin.

Among the features are a state-of-the-art kitchen, an infinity bathtub with a waterfall; a built-in sound system, a walk-in closet, interior doors of frosted glass in stainless-steel frames and a service entrance. Sorkin opened up the floor plan by removing walls. The unit also has an 8-foot-wide patio.

The sale included a black goatskin rug, plasma TVs, Italian furnishings, sheets, towels and art. The complex, built in the '60s, has a 24-hour concierge and valet parking service. The selling price was high for a single condo in the 150-unit-plus building.

Perry, 35, is among a number of the condo complex's young owners who are involved in the entertainment industry.

The same year his role ended as Chandler on "Friends" (1994-2004), he re-teamed with Bruce Willis for the movie sequel "The Whole Ten Yards" and received an Emmy nomination for his appearance on "The West Wing." He also guest starred on "Scrubs" and made his directing debut in the episode.

Janet Factor of Sotheby's International Realty was identified as the real estate agent who represented the seller.

Wow, that's about 1-2 miles from where I live. Except my view is terrible.

Now, please someone explain to me: if it’s 1700 sq. feet (= almost 170 sq metres) how can it have only 2 bedrooms? What’s with the other space? :) I’d say it’s really good to be Matthew Perry – or is girlfriend. ;)
in the 150-unit-plus building What does this expression mean, anyone can help me out? Thanks!

the 150 unit thing means it's like a condo or apartment building. I read that it was a condo. And judging from the size of his, I'd have to guess that that is one gigantic building.

So it really means that there are 150 condos in it? Wow, that's really huge...

Is there are a difference between condo and apartment?

Thanks for the language class! :P

No, condo's more like a bigger and more expensive apartment.

I guess the rest of the space is taken up by bathrooms, a kitchen, living spaces and maybe an office or a big ass terrace. With a bit of luck some magazine will do a spread on his new house and we'll get to see what it is like (fingers crossed).

Funnily enough nobody says anything about that, so who knows. Maybe he's investing all his money in real estate...
