TOW The Engagement Plan
[ Monica quietly enters the room, carrying a tray of food, which she places next to Chandler ]
Chandler: Hey
Monica: I'm sorry. Did I wake you?
Chandler: No. I've been awake for a while
Monica: Are you hungry?
Chandler: A little, yeah. What's on the menu?
Monica: Oatmeal and orange juice
Chandler: Oatmeal?
Monica: Just try it. I put some in cinnamon for some flavor
Chandler (sighing): OK. But I really miss those little sausages
Monica: Sorry. Doctor's orders.
* Chandler sniffs the air *
Chandler: I smell eggs.... and bacon!
** Chandler gets up **
Monica: Where are you going?
Chandler: Across the hall.... where the real food is at
** Monica restrains Chandler **
-- Cut to Joey and Chandler's apartment. Joey and Ross are eating eggs, sausage, and bacon --
Ross: If Monica knew what we were doing, she'd kill us
-- Opening Credits --
[ Still at Joey and Chandlers. Ross and Joey are still eating and Rachel enters ]
Rachel: Guys! We're supposed to be supporting Chandler
Ross (offering some bacon): Ya want some?
Rachel (taking the plate): God yes! I'd kill for some real food, for a change!
** Joey nods in understanding **
-- Back at Monica and Phoebe's later that day --
Monica: It's a nice day. Why don't we open the window and get some breeze in?
Chandler (sounding depressed): Sure
Monica (sitting next to Chandler): What's wrong?
Chandler: Just trying to figure out what to do with my life
Monica: What'd you come up with?
Chandler: Nothing. Nothing at all. I spent 6 years at the same job, doing the same thing, day in and day out. But I don't just want a job. I want a future.
Monica: Everybody does. That's natural. It will come to you soon enough and when you least expect it. Don't rush it
** Monica opens the window **
Ross (shouting from the other room): Mon?
Monica: We're in here.
** Ross enters **
Ross (to Chandler): How you feeling?
Chandler: OK, I guess. Just bored as all hell
Ross: I got some news for you.
Monica: What?
Ross: Where's Pheebs?
Chandler: At work. She'll be back in about 30 minutes
Ross: OK. Nobody go anywhere
Chandler: Like I have a choice?
-- Later in the afternoon. Everybody but Rachel is gathered --
Ross: OK. I got some news that I want you to be a part of
Phoebe: Where's Rachel
Ross: I sent her and Ben to the movies. This is supposed to be a surprise.
** Ross produces a ring from his pocket **
Monica: Oh my God!
Phoebe: Is that what I think it is?
Ross: While we're in Miami, we have reservations at this romantic sea-side restaurant. That's where I am going to propose
Chandler: That's awesome, dude!
Ross: I plan on hiding the ring in the dessert tray and when the waiter puts the plate on the table, and removes the lid, it will have the ring
** Monica and Phoebe coo and aww as Joey and Chandler make gagging sounds **
Monica: Hey, You guys can learn a lot from him
Chandler: Yeah. He's an expert on proposals. What number is this one, Ross?
** Ross glares at Chandler **
** The gang hears the door opening and Ross motions for everybody to keep quiet **
Ross (calling out): Hello?
Rachel (entering the room): Hey
Ross: What happened?
Rachel: The movie was sold out.
** Monica tries not to well up **
Rachel: You ok?
** Monica and Phoebe just stand there saying "Awwwwww" as Ross frowns **
Rachel: What?
Ross: They're just awww-ing over how pathetic and pitiful Chandler looks
Chandler: Thanks, man.
Monica (hugging Rachel): Have a great time in Miami
** Ross rolls his eyes as he shoos his little sister out of the room **
Rachel: What's with Mon?
Ross: You know Monica....she's emotional. She went to a movie that was sold out, once. She wells up each time she thinks about it.
Phoebe (hugging Rachel): Tell me everything!
** Ross frowns as he escorts her out of the room **
Rachel (to Joey): What the hell was that all about?
Joey: OK... well.....
Ross (yelling from the living room): I got porn
Joey (running out of the room): See ya, Rach!
Rachel: Chandler?
** Chandler falling asleep **
Rachel (softly): Chan?
* Chandler does not respond *
Rachel (quietly): Good night
* Rachel gently pulls a blanket over Chandler, turns the lights off and leaves *
-- Later that evening. Still at Monica and Phoebe's --
** Chandler slowly walks from the bedroom and lays down on the sofa. Phoebe emerges from Monica's room **
Chandler: Where is everybody?
Phoebe: Joey and Amanda went out and Monica just left to take Ross and Rachel to the airport (thinking for a second).... hey why are you not in bed? You should be trying to conserve your strength.
Chandler: I just want to watch a little TV. I am so bored, I am going nuts
Phoebe: Well I guess a little TV can't hurt. But only until Monica comes back, ok?
Chandler: Thanks, Pheebs
Phoebe: I can't believe Ross is going to get engaged
Chandler: Wanna start a pool to see how long before they get divorced?
Phoebe: I call the 1st week!
-- Ending Credits --
[ At the airport ]
Monica (welling up again): AWWWWWWW
Rachel: Couldn't you just watch another movie?
Monica: What?
Ross (jumping in): Ok sweetie.
Gate Attendant (on speaker): Flight 1000 to Miami is now boarding
Rachel (to Ross): That's us, honey.
Monica: OK. Well have a good flight and tell me EVERYTHING
Rachel: I didn't know you were so interested in Ross' seminar
Ross: OK. We better get going.
[ Ross and Rachel leave and board the airplane as Monica watches ]
