Sinden unhappy at Schwimmer and Shields for invading London theatres

(http://corp.monstersandcritics.com/article_3947.php) British actor Sir Donald Sinden has slammed American actors including David Schwimmer, Brooke Shields and Christian Slater for "invading" London's theatres.

The 82-year-old thespian complains Hollywood (http://arts.monstersandcritics.com/news/article_1034874.php/Sinden_unhappy_at_Schwimmer_and_Shields_for_invadi ng_London_theatres#) stars disappoint theatre-goers because they can act on the big screen, but flounder on the stage when presented with a live audience.

The Cruel Sea star fumes, "Working with American film (http://arts.monstersandcritics.com/news/article_1034874.php/Sinden_unhappy_at_Schwimmer_and_Shields_for_invadi ng_London_theatres#) stars is excruciating because they can't do it. The public are blinded by who they are.

"I'm not going to name anyone but they come with a screen reputation and the audience go to see them and are disappointed.

"On screen you don't notice, but on stage you notice they have no expertise. TV and film actors can't appear in the theatre."





Well all i can say is the man is an idiot David can act 4 times better than he can and he is excellent in his play.

Couldnt disagree more!! Ive been to the play and I can say with my hand on my heart that David is a fantastic actor on stage aswell as TV! There is no denying that....

I don't know... acting on TV and acting on theatre are two VERY different things. you can be very talented for the big screen or for TV and not so much for theatre, and vice versa. I think it takes alot of practice to do both and in time any good actor can learn how to do both well. so I can see where he's coming from although it's harsh and I don't agree with him.

but david has a compagny of theatre! its not only a tv actor ... he does both!

I've never seen David in a play, and I know he has a theatre company (and I also said I didn't agree with this sinden guy!) and juging by what I've seen David do he'd be good at both because he's got loads of talent. all I said was that I can understand what he's saying because acting on screen and acting on theatre is very different.

I could not disagree any more with that article.. and it's not just because I'm a fan of David, and "Friends" and all that jazz... it's because I have speaked to two people who have seen that play and say that David is absolutly TERRIFIC in it, and I also know that he is absolulty TERRIFIC on television as well, so maybe David is a genious or something, but he can very easily do both!!;)

Its like - Cant people do more than one thing these days?? TV and stage.....Theyre both completely different things but if you think about it. Friends was on stage...hes worked on stage for 10 years...so he has a right to go on stage in his own rights.

yeah i no that old bloke is probably just jealous cos how sucessful David is being over here in theatre and he probably couldnt make it anywhere else to be fair i havent even heard of him before so he cant be that good.
