Looks like David is going to direct another movie and this time it's a dark drama

Owen, Keener log on to 'Trust' (http://www.variety.com/article/VR1118009958.html?categoryid=13&cs=1)
David Schwimmer to direct dark drama
By MICHAEL FLEMING

David Schwimmer will direct Clive Owen and Catherine Keener in "Trust," a dark drama about the damaging effects an online sexual predator has on a family. Millennium Films will produce and finance.
Schwimmer, who previously directed the laffer "Run Fat Boy Run" and co-directed HBO's "Little Britain USA" series, wrote the story for the drama, and Andy Bellin wrote the script.

Owen and Keener will play the parents of a 14-year-old girl who are stunned to discover she has been victimized by an adult who gained her trust posing as a teenager on a chat room. Newcomer Liana Liberato will play the daughter.

Millennium's Avi Lerner will produce with Heidi Jo Markel and Bob Greenhut. Exec producers are Danny Dimbort, Trevor Short, Boaz Davidson, Schwimmer and Tom Hodges.

Shooting begins Nov. 9 in Michigan.

Owen just opened in "The Boys Are Back" and Keener's latest, "Where the Wild Things Are," opens Friday.

Clive Owen, Catherine Keener join David Schwimmer drama
By Borys Kit

Clive Owen and Catherine Keener are starring in "Trust," a drama David Schwimmer is directing for Millennium Films.

Schwimmer, making his second foray into directing, came up with the story and is producing with his Dark Harbor Stories partner Tom Hodges. Andy Bellin wrote the script.

"Trust" tells the story of a family blindsided when their teenage daughter becomes a victim of an online sexual predator.

Owen and Keener play the parents. Newcomer Liana Liberato is the daughter.

Nu Image/Millennium is producing and finanacing, with Avi Lerner, Heidi Jo Marker and Bob Greenhut producing and Danny Dimbort, Trevor Short, Boaz Davidson and John Thompson executive producing.

Gersh Independent's Jay Cohen packaged the film and will work to secure domestic distribution rights. Nu Image will distribute the film worldwide.

Schwimmer's first film was the Simon Pegg-toplined comedy "Run Fatboy Run," which topped the U.K. boxoffice for five consecutive weeks in 2007 and was nominated for a British Independent Film Award. He is repped by Gersh and Management 360.

Keener, also repped by Gersh, stars in Spike Jonze's "Where the Wild Things Are" and next reteams with her "Friends With Money" helmer Nicole Holofcener for "Please Give."

The CAA-repped Owen is in Miramax's drama "The Boys Are Back."

Jen worked with Catherine Keener in FWM and with Clive Owen in Derailed, and then they mention Nicole Holofcener with whom she also worked in FWM.

Man, people need to stop fixating over jennifer and David. They're not getting together (unfortunately)...they were just cast mates, probably don't even keep in touch anymore. Sorry to be an arsehole, haha.

MrHetfield
10-18-2009, 02:27 PM
yeah I understand it. But I think that they were cast mates about ten years - that was much longer than e.g. Jen knew Gerard or Owen and even longer than she knew and was married to Brad. I have new idea - I want to collect all their 'mates' things - shoots, interviews, all off screen and on screen things - everything. And I suspect that will be the BIG collection - who has more?

This is an short bit with Clive talking about the movie

http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/movies/news/a183017/clive-owen-talks-grooming-drama-trust.html

I think is very nice that David got inspired to write and direct this by the women of the rape victims center he works with.

And yes, Trust is gonna be both the movie and the theater play because the man in charge of the lights and that stuff in the theater told me that.

Anyone here from Plymouth Michigan? If so you may be able to see David filming the movie there.

"Friends” star David Schwimmer will direct Hollywood heavyweights Clive Owen and Catherine Keener in a film that will be doing some shooting in Plymouth over the next few weeks.

“Trust,” Schwimmer’s second directorial effort after 2007’s “Run Fatboy Run,” is a dark drama about a family that unravels when a teenage girl falls prey to an online sexual predator, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

“It’s a deeply upsetting and very well-written script about a family ripped apart when their 14-year-old daughter is groomed on the Internet,” Owen told DigitalSpy.com on Wednesday. “I’ve met with the head of a rape center and a guy from the FBI. It feels very authentic and I think it’s a good thing to do.”

Plymouth City Manager Paul Sincock confirmed today that he has been in contact with film officials about logistics and locations. Sincock said “Trust” filmmakers are hoping to shoot in Plymouth on Nov. 18-20 and for a few weeks at the beginning of December.
He said Plymouth has been the site for other commercial productions and that the 1981 film “Word of Honor,” starring Karl Malden and Ron Silver, was filmed there.

“We go into this as a positive for our community,” Sincock said, adding that he hopes people involved in “Trust” will use local businesses and resources.

Representatives from the Michigan Film Office wouldn’t officially acknowledge that the movie is heading to Plymouth, but said today they were aware of “Trust.” They said they would comment once filmmakers complete the qualification process for Michigan tax incentives.

A local production office has a working telephone number with a 734 area code. Queries to there were referred to the film’s publicist, who didn’t return the Free Press’ phone calls today.

“Trust” star Owen is the dashing British actor who played opposite Julia Roberts in this year’s “Duplicity” and Naomi Watts in the thriller “The International.” He’s working with Spike Lee on “Inside Man 2,” which is expected to be released before “Trust” in late 2011.

Keener is in Spike Jonze’s big-screen adaptation of “Where the Wild Things Are,” which opened last week. She has appeared in comedies like “The 40-Year-Old Virgin” as well as more serious fare like 2007’s “An American Crime.” Keener has been nominated for two Oscars in the best supporting actress category.

Schwimmer, who codirected HBO’s “Little Britain USA” series, wrote the story for “Trust,” and Andy Bellin wrote the script, according to Variety.

Newcomer Liana Liberato, who has appeared on “House” and “CSI: Miami,” will play the teenage daughter, according to IMDB.com.

So I was checking if there was some new info about trust and I read that David's gonna direct another movie called The Persuaders releasing in 2011 and starred by George Clooney and Hugh Grant. That's all I could find out checking out different sites cause there's no one site with all the info since the IMDB one is only available in the "pro" section.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0464147/
Also I know it doesn't say anything about David there and however it appears when you google it, just read the paragraph under the first link without clicking.

http://www.annarbor.com/assets_c/2009/12/David-Schwimmer-Trust-Press-Conference-thumb-537x376-17998.jpg

It's worth reading there's interesting stuff here

“We have a fundraiser every year, and at one fundraiser about 7 years ago, a father spoke for the first time, telling his story of everything that went on, emotionally and psychologically, when he learned that his 14-year-old daughter had been groomed online and subsequently raped, and how the family survived and moved on from that trauma,” Schwimmer said. “I was so taken by his eloquence and his articulation of what he went through, what the whole family went through, that I thought, this could be an interesting new way to tell this story.”

Schwimmer stated that his goal with the film is to entertain as well as educate, calling the film a “dramatic thriller.”

“If we all do our job right, if we’re very lucky, perhaps (‘Trust’) could have an effect the way movies like ‘The Accused’ did,” Schwimmer said. “ … We want to really promote discussion more than anything. … A big thing that we also address in the film is … how technology has completely changed how we socialize, and how kids today — you can be out to dinner and look at a family of four, your typical family of four sitting at another table, and for half the meal, if not more, the kids are buried in their phones or their PDA or their Game Boy, and I believe it’s going to have a tremendous effect over time in how we, as a society, actually interact and socialize.

“So I think that’s one of the things we hope to dramatize, and just ask that people start talking about it and thinking about it. I don’t think any movie is going to necessarily drastically change that, but we can at least help someone give pause for a moment and think again, think twice about, ‘Huh, do my kids have a secret Facebook page that I don’t know about?’ Because most of them do. And then it just hopefully will invite more conversation.”

U-M’s North Campus Research Complex has seemingly become an ideal production studio, “It’s saved us a lot of time and money, because anytime you move locations, it costs money and time, and this is an incredible facility because it lends itself to several completely different locations,” said Schwimmer.

The film has an international distribution deal, but no domestic distributor yet, so Schwimmer believes the movie may premiere at festivals. And while Schwimmer had Chicago in mind (Wilmette, specifically) — and the story is still set there — the state's incentives brought him to Michigan.

“On an independent film like this, where we have very little money, it is a critical difference with the incentives here in Michigan,” said Schwimmer. “A 40 to 42 percent rebate and incentive — that’s a significant difference to Illinois, which is about 30 percent. That may not seem like much, but on a budget as tight as ours, it’s a lot of money for us. It’s equivalent to about 4-5 days of shooting. So if it looks the same, feels the same, why don’t we shoot here?“

And while Schwimmer confessed that he’s been too busy to see or experience much of what Michigan has to offer, he’s been charmed by the treatment he and his crew have received.

“Everyone’s been incredibly kind and really, really accommodating, and really sweet, both in Ann Arbor and in Plymouth,” said Schwimmer. “We’ll be working late at night, like a really gloomy day, and suddenly … this lovely couple that owns a tea shop came out and set up a table with a big thing of hot tea for the whole crew. Things like that don’t really happen in L.A.“

Schwimmer back in the director's chair for 'Trust'

ANN ARBOR, Michigan (AP) - David Schwimmer has a well-earned reputation as a TV star after 10 years playing Dr. Ross Geller on NBC's mega-hit "Friends," although these days he is more focused on what happens behind the camera.

Schwimmer talked to reporters Tuesday on the Ann Arbor set of "Trust" - the 43-year-old's second foray into directing a feature film, following last year's Simon Pegg comedy "Run Fatboy Run."

"Trust" is a different kind of movie, and for Schwimmer a much more personal one. It stars Clive Owen and Catherine Keener as the parents of a 14-year-old girl who is raped by an online predator.

Countering child sex abuse is an important issue for Schwimmer, who serves on the board of directors of the Rape Foundation of Santa Monica (California) and has been working on bringing a story of this kind to the big screen for some time.

Schwimmer has met with victims of child sexual abuse and "was really moved by some of the stories," he said, "and in particular their families."

Seven years ago, a victim's father spoke at a fundraiser Schwimmer attended and discussed in stark terms the anguish and anger he felt when he learned his teenage daughter had been raped. That man was the inspiration for Owen's character, who has difficulty coping with the attack on his daughter.

It has been an opportunity for Owen to turn in what "Trust" producer Heidi Jo Markel called a "meaty performance" that she said was tonally similar to that by Tom Wilkinson in the Oscar-nominated "In the Bedroom" in which his character seeks justice for the untimely death of his son.

On Tuesday, the production team was filming a scene in which Owen's character receives a critical cell-phone call from the FBI while he's going through a security checkpoint at Chicago's O'Hare International Airport and becomes agitated when he's told to get off the phone.

The film is set in the Chicago suburb of Wilmette, Illinois, not far from Schwimmer's alma mater of Northwestern University in Evanston. But with the exception of some exterior shots of the Windy City, "Trust" has largely been filmed in Michigan.

"Trust" is being financed by Millennium Films and has an international distribution deal lined up, but still is seeking a domestic distributor. The producers expect to take the film on the festival circuit next year and, Markel said, ideally release it around Christmas 2010. Filming wraps on Dec. 16.Schwimmer's goals for the film are "to entertain and also educate."

"Perhaps it could have an effect the way movies like 'The Accused' did for its time," he said, referring to the 1988 film with Jodie Foster.

I'm pretty sure this is him directing Trust because of the clothes he's wearing and the article in which it appears but I might be mistaken since there's no info about the picture.

David will probably never get an Oscar; he's not mainstream enough. Having an Oscar doesn't confirm a persons talent though, sure it's nice to have, but it doesn't mean your more talented than someone else who hasn't got one. Same with regular people, i bet there are some extremely talented people out there who nobody has even heard of.
It's luck, man. Mother-****ing luck.

"Trust" producers and screenwriter offer perspectives

Posted: 5:11 a.m. December 9, 2009

Before David Schwimmer, director of the film “Trust” — which has been shooting in recent weeks in Ann Arbor, Plymouth, and Dexter — spoke to the press last week at the North Campus Research Complex (formerly Pfizer), two of the film’s producers, the screenwriter, and the director of the University of Michigan Film Office answered questions about the project.

Producer Heidi Jo Markel, for instance, provided details about the story of a family that’s damaged when a 14-year-old girl becomes the victim of an online predator.

“It’s really a big two-hander of a father-daughter story, because the mother is more nurturing and accepting and supportive, whereas the father, I think, has to grapple with more guilt about the situation,” said Markel. “…And this is a really great vehicle for Clive Owen. … Just a meaty performance to sink his chops into, and bring a father’s protection of his children to something that’s on par with, tonally, ‘In the Bedroom,’ or something like that, where we see a parent dealing with feelings of revenge.”

Owen stars with Catherine Keener as the victim’s parents, and the film’s title plays on the different relationships that are threatened by this act of violence.

“Trust plays many roles in the story,” said producer Tom Hodges. “There’s the belief that you can trust that your kid will make the right decision; there’s the belief that you can trust that your parents will protect you; there’s the belief that the FBI will come and find the bad guy — there’s so many elements of how trust plays (out) in this script with each of these storylines, and how trust is broken and re-gained.”

Hodges also reinforced the idea that the story was a passion project for Schwimmer, who serves on the board of the Rape Foundation in Santa Monica.

“He just felt that this was a story that needed to be told,” Hodges explained, “about a girl who is smart, well-loved, and reasonably popular, and yet, she makes bad choices, and how parents need to still be checking on their kids, even when they think that their kid’s going to make a good decision.”

The crew appears to be on schedule with their six-week shoot, which began at the start of November.

“I met David 9 or 10 weeks ago,” said Markel. “This came together so fast. We met with the bond company, and the head of the bond company said, ‘How in the heck do you propose to do this movie, with this ambitious of a script, for this budget? I don’t understand.’ And (David) said, ‘Well, there’s this thing called the Pfizer (campus).”

Indeed, the “Trust” team’s timing couldn’t have been better regarding the use of the old Pfizer site. The University of Michigan, which purchased the property from Pfizer, isn’t scheduled to move anyone or anything in until January, making the site a gigantic blank slate of a production studio.

“We’ve built at least 10 sets within this (complex),” said Markel. “From hospitals to airport security, … to a high-end advertising agency to the FBI agency, … to a flagship store, to a hospital emergency room waiting room and dorm rooms.”

Centralizing all these different locations in one space has saved the production team tons of time and money — to such a degree that the crew started joking about making a completely different movie in their off-hours. “By day ‘Trust,’ by night, horror film,” said Markel. “It seems like we’re working 24 hours a day anyway, so what’s the difference?”

The crew has also filmed at Dexter High School; U-M’s central campus (the family’s son starts his freshman year at U-M in the film) and law school (where the son apparently has the best first on-campus meal of all time); as well as in Plymouth and Novi’s Twelve Oaks Mall.

“We were so scared,” said Markel. “We were in this mall, where a girl is meeting a predator, and we were like, ‘Who is going to help us out with this?’ And then there’s the Body Shop that says, ‘Our mission is to stop human trafficking of children, so we couldn’t be more with you.’ … But it’s just amazing to me in this day and age, … how many people are closed off to it. How are you ever going to get the word out that this is something we want to prevent if you don’t show it?”

Screenwriter Andy Bellin, meanwhile, discussed how he became involved with the project.

“David approached me about two years ago with the idea for this movie, which is a really difficult topic because, … you go one direction and you end up with a movie like ‘Taken’ or ‘Ransom’ — which are great movies, just not what we wanted — and if you go this other way, you end up with an after-school special that doesn’t really entertain,” said Bellin. “We tried for a long time, when we were writing it, to really hit a middle ground that somehow crossed this emotional Rubicon and got to a point that was provocative and entertaining but wasn’t preachy. … It took us forever to get the script right.”

Finally, U-M Film Office director Lee Doyle — who makes sure that either she or a co-worker is on the set each day that filming occurs on campus — emphasized the fact that seven films have been partly shot on U-M's campus since the state's film incentive legislation passed, and that many U-M students have gained valuable work experience as a result. The Ann Arbor area has been a favorite stop for filmmakers.

“The reason we got into this business was primarily for the student opportunities,” said Doyle. “Students get hired as production assistants, … as location assistants, and this supplements their class work. … The other reason we do this is to support the economic development that the film industry brings to the state of Michigan. It’s bringing jobs here that are so sorely needed and … just brings a level of excitement to the state in a time when the state so badly needs it.”
