My Experience at a JOEY Taping
Hey everyone,
I just wanted to share my experience with you cause it was so cool! I SAW A TAPING OF JOEY!!!! It was one of the coolest days of my life. I woke up early that morning to get there early so i could be on of the first people in line, because even though ihad tickets that didnt mean there was a gurantee that i would get in! So I first went to the wrong place but when we found the business arts plaza where you have to line up i was wayyy excited. We talked to this one lady who said just to wait outside for a woman with a clipboard to come! When we got outside she was already there with one other lady. So we gave her our tickets and we were number 2 and 3 in line. I wass soooo happy. We would get the best seats in the house! Since we were there for even before 11 when they told you to0 come at 2:30 we had to wait a while....lol.After about 100 or so more people had come they started talking to us about whta was going to happen. They said that the taping would probs last up to 10 hours. So they shuttled the first 25(i think it was, but anyways we were 2 and 3 so it didnt really matter) over. We ended up waiting outside the studio because matt and the others were still rehearsing. When we did get our seats i got the BEST ones just like i had hoped! We were in the cenetr! We were in the 3rd row. When Matt came out I was soooooooooooooooooooooooooo excited. It was such a funny show, and it was so funny to watch them. It was great! We were really so close. It went to late that night. the man who entertained us gave out some things to us the auidence. I also sat in the very front row..... it was part of Andrea Anders family, im pretty sure it was her sister beacuse they looked really like(she would come up and talk to them)...well anyways they left so I got the seats! So ohh it was just so great! If you have any questions or would like to know more just ask! :04: :04: :04: :04:

its taped at Warner Bros. Studios. The tickets don't cost anything (but they do give out more than the studio can hold...so you have to get there really early if you want to get good seats...or even get in at all) You can get them at www.tvtickets.com (http://www.tvtickets.com)

Hey:
I am really happy that you went to a taping and also envious. I plan to be in LA soon so I will try to get tickets and get there as early as possible. heck, I may even camp out overnight.
But what did you do for ten hours? I can't imagine they performed for all that time. Were there lots of time just sitting and waiting? Did the cast take audience questions? Was there an intermission? What happens if you need to get something to eat or go to the bathroom? I bet somebody would try to steal your seat. LOL

Thanks, yup if you're plannig to go to L.A you should go, it ws great! To get the tickets you order them online(juts in case u didnt no that) Yup, well just before we went onto the bus to get sent to the studio from the line up, thhey said that we would more than likely be there for 10 hours. So yup it takes them a long time to do all the scenes. But they fed us dinner twice and gave us licorice and water. It was amazing. The cast didn't take questions with the audience. Nope no intermission either, lol. And with going to the bathroom you had to leave before a scene and they didnt let you back in until the end of the scene.Hey:

Hey
Could you describe what the actors did during the ten hours that you were there. I can't imagine having an audience for watching me at my job. The show is only a half hour and then there are commercials so that would give us about 20 minutes of actual air time each week. I know they do shoot extra scenes but that would still not account for the whole ten hours. Even with shooting a scene at the very most five times it would not account for the ten hours. I'll even give them a hour for each dinner that was served but that woudl still break it down to eight hours. Ok so they do need time to set up the stage and lighting for each scene so that would be another 45 minutes.
Do you get to see the director instruct the actors on how to perform. Did he or she yell at anyone? Did Matt or any of the other aactors get into an argument? Did anybody crack up during a scene because they made a mistake? I love bloobers!
Any inside scoop would be appreciated.

You wouldn't believe it, but most of that time was them acting! They served us dinner twice, but there wasnt really a time when they gave us like 30 minutes to eat, they just handed out slices of pizza inbetween scenes. Yup, there were extra scenes, some that we really hillarious, which unfortunately got cut:( , but it ws still great. Yup we did see the director instruct Drea and Paulo to do something, and Matt didn't know what was going on, it was quite funny. Nope he didn't yell at anyone, he seemed very nic, and all te actors were great. There were times when they would crack up. One part specifically with Matt. I think I have posted this somewher, but I will do it again! There was a part when Matt was to say "Give me the Keeeeeys". Matt first did it in this high-pitched voice, and we started to laugh. So they re did it. He kept on doing it, over and over and over again. And evry time we laughed harder. By the end he was laughing and he turned to the audience and was like "I can't Stop" in the high pitched voice. It was soooo funny. If you've seen the episode you will see how it is in a high pitched voice, becuase he really couldn't stop, so they just said okay lets go on. There was also the part when Bobbie was like "I can't believe they take the fa out of my ass and put it into my lips" and Matt couldn't keep a srtaight face. Drea also was to come in and say "Good Mornin' Boys, I brought bagels" but ended up saying "Good mornin' boys, I broke her nail" That was also vey funny, se had broken her nail on the door. There were many funny parts!Hey

Hey
It is still hard to believe that nobody argued or disagreed with one another. And I can't believe that the director didn't give Matt directions. But that was cool that you guys were given pizza. And I have to hear Matt in this high pitched voice. He is so mocho it will be funny to hear him sound like that.

You really had a great time, lucky you.
Did they shoot the scenes in the same order as the episode was aired or did they just jump from a take to a take randomly ?
fooseball table
11-14-2004, 10:54 AM
they took them in order so that we would understand what was going on, and be ale to react to everything. It takes longer that way, because of costume changes and everything, but it makes it more enjoyable for the audience.

Hey, sorry, I just read your post about going to a taping of "Joey," and you said you sat next to her family. How were they, and more importantly, how was she? Was she as pretty in real life as she is on TV? Was she nice? Was she funny? Did she seem smart? How did she interact with the other actors? With the audience? I'm sorry, I know I'm bombarding you with questions, but I absolutely love her on "Joey," and I have huge (but healthy) crush on her.
Lots of details would be great.

that's awesome! one question...how did they announce the cast at the beginning? i never got to see a taping of friends, but i know they used to play the theme song and yell out all the names of the cast members...
fooseball table
05-01-2005, 12:40 PM
sure, i can answer that :P umm when I went to "Joey" it was only the third taping so they were still kind of getting used to everything. At the beginning they just asked everyone to stand and they inrtoduced them and like Friends they came out waving. At the end of the night it was the same thing. They first introduced Andrea, than Matt, than Drea, etc.... They did not play music. That is cuz at that time they weren't sure if the Theme Song was going to be Sunny Hours for sure they were just deciding............. I hope that helped.

fooseball table

umm well when I went it just started so they didnt have shorts or anything like that. So what they gave out as prizes were silly but fun like a back scratcher and shoe horn that said "How You Doin?" on it, they also gave us "Gold's Gym" shirts, ummmm they gave away digital cameras and they gave out licorice and just a bunch of differnt things. I think that know they would give out shirts or something like that. But for most things you had tyo answer a question or stand up and dance :P

Is there any chance to take picture of the actors after the taping ? Or don't they like meet fans after that ?

05-10-2005, 09:48 PM
sure, i can answer that :P umm when I went to "Joey" it was only the third taping so they were still kind of getting used to everything. I hope that helped.
oh, thanx so much!!!!!

I'm going to see a taping of Joey in August! I think its the first taping of the season! Or at least its the first taping of the season that tickets are available! I have a few questions about what to expect... First where are we supposed to meet. I know that its not at the actual Warner Bros. Studios, but right outside, I just want to know where exactly! Also what time would you recommend arriving?

Awsome, you will have a ton of fun! I would suggest to get there around 10:00 am. But that might be too early for your preference, also the place where you have to park is just a street over from the WB studios, if you have trouble finding it just go over to the WB touring area parking, and there is a customer service area where you could ask for better directions. If you have any other questions, or want me to be more distinctive in the ones you already asked just let me know :D

the first one they have already taped, the second one is 28th of august or something.
which taping was that? was it a recent one?it was the second part of the season finale. very last taping of the season back in april. the caps from it are at the top of the forum right now (and in doe's sig). i had a perfect view of the scene where joey and alex were making out. front row in the very corner. :p
I took those caps myself, I put em in the forum gallery lol..

wow you went to that taping :D could you tell us more about it or did you already posted it somewhere?
i so wish i could go to a taping of Joey but i don't think that's ever gonna happend :(
i went to part of a taping of "what i like about you." there were a lot of young people...13ish. i stayed for about 2 hours, got bored, and left. their warm-up guy sucks compared to friends'/joey's warm-up guy. :P they tape at stage 25, which is right across from the friends/joey stage. :D
really what comments did he made then?? :)

i don't remember the exact line, but gina said something (it was actually in the episode), and matt responded with "i think i just came a little bit." ew gross. i don't remember a lot of the other stuff. i think i posted it somewhere else before.
what specifically do you want to know? oh, i remember that kevin bright put on a bra that was on set (i don't know why). that was pretty funny. :p the people sitting next to us were personal friends of matt, so he came and talked to them and asked them how they liked the show. he was really close to us when he did that...like 3 feet.

Don't say it was boring! Ugh..
Well maybe I can get one of those standby tickets or something to Joey.
Please do ^_^ and if you don't tell us everything about it I'll... I'll... explode!:o
Don't say it was boring! Ugh.. well if you don't watch the show in the first place and you don't care that much for the characters, it's automatically less interesting. which was the case with us.
i posted some about the taping here: http://www.friendscafe.org/forum/showthread.php?t=12463&page=2&pp=10
if you still have questions after that you can still ask. :P

woooooooow so cool, which episode was it?
I am so jealous! I've always wanted to see a taping of Joey or Friends (when it was on). My sister and I almost went to see Friends too but I forget what happened... it was either car trouble or lack of moolah! :D Ah well...still something I regret to this day because I know if I had tried just a little harder we would have been able to go....As far as Joey goes - I won't be able to see a taping of this show either since I no longer live in CA :(

LoL, I don't know if you guys are talking to me...:)...so I'm going to answer the question anyway! Hehe...
I saw a taping of 2.05, Joey & The New House. It was SUCH a great experience!! Matty is soooo funny, he kept cracking all these dumb jokes, it was awesome. If you've watched the Joey S2 Gag Reel on NBC, the very first one with Alex & Joey was from my taping. (ANDREA: "I wouldn't bring it up, but...um, but, let me take that back..." MATT: "You wanna take it back to the night we had sex on the balcony?") I got to the studio to wait at about 1PM, & while we were waiting a WB page told us about the different sets all around us, & we were sitting on the steps of the courthouse where Ross goes down to file for divorce from Rachel. Not far down was the building with the window where Elizabeth threw water balloons at Ross, & across the street was the park where Phoebe & Rachel ran. When we finally went into stage 24 it was such a surreal feeling, like "OMG, I'm standing on the Friends stage!" Outside the door there's a plaque that says "The Friends Stage: 1994-2004." I wished we could take in cameras so I could remember everything! The taping ended at midnight & I stayed until the very end--it was totally worth it because I got to talk to Matt afterwards!! :D He was super nice, but super tired, he told me he had been there almost 24 hours. He signed my Friends purse & said it was weird to have his face on a women's handbag, haha. It was so neat to see him in person though, his personality is exactly like Joey's! It was seriously like the best night of my life.
