You've Got Mail

This one is for my sis Crissy, because I know these scenes are some of your favorite, Sis, tell me what you think, one shot or should I add more?

"I love mail" He tries to steal one more kiss, no such luck he takes the eighteen page letter and with one backward glance he heads down the stairs. He pours himself a cup of coffee and before he even begins to read the words he knows he will give anything, do anything to have her back. He takes a sip of the coffee realizing that Rachel herself must have made it, it's awful. The girl cannot cook to save her life but she is simply the one who takes his breath away, he is so close, so close now to getting what he wants more then anything, Rachel back, he thinks of Bonnie and his heart aches a little, usually he is the "dumped" not the one who does the dumping but when it's a choice between Rachel and any other woman, well there really is no choice, he doesn't just love her, she is like a part of his heart and soul and nothing has ever hurt him worse then losing her, not even when Carol left him. He smiles down at her familiar writing, "eighteen pages, front and back" He repeats, no matter he straightens out the crinkled pages and dives in.

Rachel touches her chest, she can feel her heart, still beating rapidly, when she saw him appear in that doorway after those kisses they shared downstairs , she couldn't believe it, sure she knows he loves her but Bonnie is a sexy woman, a sexy woman who likes to have a lot of sex, Ross could of easily chosen her but he didn't, he proved his love for her once more. A smile forms on her lips as she remembers his kisses so romantic, she closes her eyes and can see him, reaching a tentative hand out to her and then not able to resist anymore, he moves toward her kissing her with so much passion that Rachel practically forgot the reason why they'd been apart for these horrible last four months. Almost..

"Ross, it's just like I told you the night, that terrible night we broke up, I never thought you'd hurt me, ever. I am still having a hard time accepting what you did, there are still nights when I picture you with her and it's going to take time, a long time to get over that, if you want me back, you're going to have to be patient Ross, I know you are patient, kind, sweet but all of your good qualities don't make up for what you did, why couldn't you just come home to me that night, why did you have to go to that God forsaken bar with Joey and Chandler, what good advice have those two ever given you anyway?"

Ross reads her words and feels his stomach tied in knots just as it was in the days and weeks after their breakup, he brush's a hand through his hair, takes another drink of his coffee and forces his eyes open, Bonnie was so angry, especially when she put two and two together and realized just why Rachel had encouraged her to shave her head, that's why their breakup had taken so long, she went on a tirade about Rachel and how she was "spoiled" and a "Princess", Ross finally unable to stand for her talking about Rachel that way, offered to call a cab and left the room, Bonnie left forty minutes later but not before warning Ross that he was making a huge mistake and that he would want her back. The minute she cab disappeared from sight, Ross of course headed straight to Rachel.

"What are you doing down here Ross? I thought you would be back with Rach, what happened did you two already have your first fight? That is the shortest reconciliation in history my man."

Ross holds up the letter and Chandler gives him a questioning look, Ross who can hardly keep his eyes open at this point doesn't have the strength to explain, all he wanted was to be holding her, making love to her right now.

"I'll explain tomorrow, if I get through it by then." Chandler grabs a bottle of water, slaps Ross on the back and in a moment he's gone. Ross for his part is becoming frustrated, why couldn't they just talk about it, discuss what they were feeling? After all, they both had fault in the break up, Ross thought now about his constant insistence that they were on a break, he still feels he is right but sleeping with Chloe right after was the worse mistake he's ever made, no matter how hurt he was..

Meanwhile Rachel is doing some heavy thinking of her own about the break and that letter she sent him downstairs with more the forty five minutes ago. She hears her mother admonishing her the day she admitted that she missed him, wanted him back. "Once a cheater, always a cheater." Her mother's advice had stopped her from going straight to his apartment and telling him that she wanted him back, she needed him in her life not only as her friend but as her boyfriend, she and Ross did connect, she was right when she told hm they shared tenderness, intimacy and if she was honest, she didn't just miss him, she ached for him.

Rachel bites at a fingernail as she silently curses herself for listening to her mother's advice for the first time in her life, still he did sleep with that girl from the copy place, dammit why? Everything was so incredible between them, Rachel had allowed herself to put her guard down, to fall truly and deeply in love, she couldn't even deny it was true that she was still in love with him, she is and even though she tried on a daily and nightly basis to forget about him and though she would never admit it to another soul, she knows she never will be able to forget him.

Rachel begins thinking about a particular passage of the letter, "If you accept full responsibility for our breakup, I can start to trust you again, do you think that's something you can do, do you?"
Rachel winces at the tone of the words, they sounded so punishing now that she played them back once more in her mind, what gave her the right to place all the blame on him, Rachel for the first time since the breakup came to a realization, as she once more brushed a hand over what would be his pillow.. She was not faultless in their break up. A sob caught in her throat "What was she thinking? Placing all the blame on him, sending him downstairs with an eighteen page letter front and back when what she really wanted was him, here making love to her, it has been so long, and those kisses only served to whet her appetite, they would talk and then spend the rest of the night making love, yes she thinks and then suddenly she realizes, something..

She moves from bed as quickly as she can, forgetting to throw on her robe in the process, when she reaches the bottom of the stairs, she stands quietly watching him for a moment, his eyes so heavy, obviously forcing himself to read the many, many pages..

"Ross" she says his name quietly but it still startles him as she sees him jump, she walks to him reaching for his arm.. He looks at her and she can see in his gorgeous hazel eyes how much he is yearning for her..

"Rach, you are so beautiful, I tried to remember the last time we were together, I mean I remembered every night for weeks, I didn't want to forget you."

"I know, it's your right as the ex-boyfriend." She smiles and he smiles a little now too but she knows he's not joking.

"Ross, you aren't the only one who tried to hold onto the memory of our last time, do you have any idea how much I have wanted to give in, go to your apartment, wait there for you, just like when were dating, it started to feel like my place too."

"It's so damn lonely without you there Rachel."

She brush's a hand against his cheek, seeing the tiredness and sadness that fill his eyes, she breaks..

"Ross, forget that letter and come upstairs with me now.."

"Rach, I know this means a lot to you, are you sure?"

"You mean everything to me Ross, I miss you and I don't want to sleep another night without you."

Rachel takes the letter from him, as Ross takes her hand, he kisses it, just as he is about to lead her up the stairs, she says "Wait"

Ross looks at her, so afraid she has changed her mind, while she looks up at him she shreds the eighteen pages and throws them into a nearby waste paper basket. Ross looks at her for a moment as she stands beside him once again.

"Are you sure Rach?"

She wraps her arms around his waist tightly, not wanting to let go..ever

"I love you Ross and I want you back, that's what I know for sure."

He leans in, tasting her kiss and feeling her passionate response

"I love you, so much Rachel.."

Without another word they disappear up the stairs..

More?? Let me think... I think that this fic was amazing. Yes I wish it happened this way, it would be so much better than in the show. It was funny to see how Ross couldn't keep his eyes open, not even the coffee was making the effect that night. But I'm glad that Rachel couldn't sleep either, because that gave her time to think more.

She thought about the letter she jut wrote and thought about every word she wrote there. I also think that she was a little bit hard by blaming everything to him. It's true that he's the one who cheated, but she needs to take part of the blame too. She was the one who called that break, if it wouldn't be because of that there wouldn't be a Chloe in their history.

But there is and it seems that for Rachel is a name hard to forget. Also very understandable, because she loves Ross like she never loved anyone. She thought that she wouldn't be able to love someone that much, but she did and she suffered because of that. The last weeks of their relationship were hard, I'm not going to deny that, they were hard for both of them, for Ross because he couldn't spend as much time as he would like with Rachel and for Rachel because his jealousy was eating her alive.

In the end Rachel, after a lot of thinking, decided to go downstairs to tell him that he should forget about the letter and be with her, that's the only thing she wants and Ross too. If there are differences between them the best is to talk, not to write a letter. Face your problems and don't be a coward when you're expressing your feelings.

Now, if I have to answer to your question about continuing this or not. I'm not going to give you one, I'm sure that you're able to guess it and you can tell what will be my answer I hope you update soon

Hi sweetiepie You are so wonderful to me, every time I post something new, you are right here for me with a lovely review. Okay, I'm going to think about how to continue this one, the whole idea is, I wanted Rachel to forget the letter, I agree it was unfair of her to try and make him take full responsibility for their breakup, she IS the one who wanted the break and he did truly think they were over so in his eyes (and mine) he didn't cheat on her. He made the mistake of assuming she was with Mark (although it's easy to see why as Mark was at the apartment) and then sleeping with Chloe. I feel so bad for Ross, he always loved her so, wanted her back, I wish she would have forgotten the letter and just taken him back and told him she was in love with him because she was, she was just too stubborn to admit it.

Geez, that Sandra Green gives the worst advice EVER!!!! What does she know anyway? Damn all these people interfering in their relationship - I hate it. I always think about how Joey and Chandler caused them so much pain, first the list, finally the break-up. I wish Ross hadn't listened to them!

I agree, they were always giving Ross such bad advice, it wasn't even his idea for the list, yet Joey and Chandler leave him standing there when Rachel finds out and gets mad at him, why doesn't one of them speak up, defend Ross and tell her it was there idea? Even with the breakup, Ross wanted to be honest, do the right thing but the guys started telling him all that nonesense about "the trail." Poor Ross, he always paid the price Thanks for your review and I hope you like this story sweetie

Brittany, you're so cute! Okay we will write more, it always makes me sad that she allows that stupid letter to come between themI also hate that she made him read that letter first, it was very unfair to him, because when he tells her he is going to breakup with Bonnie, she doesn't say a word and then she hands him the letter that puts all the blame on him?
